guesswherealexis.blogspot.com A selection of photos from Himeji Castle which is in Himeji in the Hyōgo prefecture. It was registered as the first Japanese National Cultural Treasure by UNESCO, and is one of Japan’s “Three Famous Castles”. The layout of the castle and it’s gardens is very intricate, and was purposly done to confuse enemy attackers about which way to go, as the roads that seem to lead straight towards the main castle actually head in a different direction. Himeji Castle has been featured in You Only Live Twice, Shogun, and the Last Samurai was shot here using artificial snow. I have written a bit more about Himeji Castle in my blog here : guesswherealexis.blogspot.com
